No. 6 Saint Francis Rolls Past Mount Vernon Nazarene, 86–51

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The No. 6 University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's basketball team rolled past Mount Vernon Nazarene University 86–51 in a home Crossroads League matchup on Saturday, January 24.

Saint Francis built early momentum, holding a 19–14 edge after the first quarter before pulling away in the second. An early 12–3 run stretched the Cougars' lead to 31–17, and SF continued to apply pressure on both ends, outscoring MVNU 26–12 in the second quarter to take a 45–26 advantage at halftime.

The Cougars opened the third quarter with a three-pointer to push the margin to 48–26. Saint Francis remained in control throughout the second half, piling up 41 points over the final 20 minutes to secure the 35-point victory. With the win, SF improves to 9–1 in Crossroads League play, while Mount Vernon Nazarene drops to 2–8.

Saint Francis shot 55.2% (32-of-58) from the field and 61.1% (11-of-18) from beyond the arc. The Cougars capitalized on MVNU miscues, scoring 29 points off turnovers. Isabella Gizzi led with 23 points on 5-7 shooting from three-point range while adding five rebounds. Renna Schwieterman followed with 22 points and a team-high seven assists, while Julia Mantyla chipped in 14 points. Cali Gregory contributed nine points, eight rebounds and three steals.

Up next, Saint Francis women's basketball (19-1, 9-1 CL) is back on the road on Wednesday, January 28, traveling to Winona Lake for a league matchup against Grace College. In the teams' first meeting this season, the Cougars earned a 119–46 victory over the Lancers.
