FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The No. 7 University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's basketball team closed out non-league play with a 76–51 victory over Rochester Christian University on Saturday, December 27.
After a slow start, Saint Francis held an 11–8 advantage at the end of the opening quarter. The Cougars found their rhythm in the second, shooting 71.4% from the field and 50.0% from three-point range while scoring 25 points to build a 36–21 halftime lead.
Saint Francis continued to pull away in the third quarter, extending the lead to 57–36 heading into the final period. The Cougars maintained control throughout the fourth to secure the 76–51 win to improve to 13-1 overall on the season. With the loss, Rochester Christian fell to 7–6.
Saint Francis shot 54.5% (30–55) from the floor and outrebounded RCU 29–19. Julia Mantyla led the Cougars with 18 points, knocking down four of six three-point attempts. Renna Schwieterman and Isabella Gizzi added 15 points apiece, with Gizzi also grabbing a team-high nine rebounds. Cali Gregory finished with 14 points, six assists, and three steals, while Taylor Fordyce contributed eight points.
