Brookings, SD -- Senior Alex Ebetino punched her ticket to Saturday's finals by managing a large "Q" in qualifying by securing a second-place finish in heat 1 of women's 3000-meter semi-final.

"Alex raced like a poised veteran and once again showed why she's one of the best distance runners in the NAIA" said Coach Brendon Moody.

Freshman Victoria Clibon closed out the individual portion of her season by finishing 17th Overall in the women's 3000. Victoria was the first freshman in the entire field.

"Tori gained valuable experience today in the tactical semi-final.  This is just one of many times we will see her at this level over the next few years," said Moody. "She will play a valuable role in tomorrow's DMR final."

Not to be outdone was Freshman Kiara Bahena's school record performance in the women's 800 meter. Bahena lowered her school record to 2:17:51 narrowly missing the final and finishing 13th overall in the field!

"I'm unbelievably proud of the way she (Bahena) put herself in the race and gave herself a shot to make the final. She raced like a veteran in a championship style race and has nothing to hang her head on." stated Moody

On Sat, Joe Painter gets the day kicked off at 1:15 pm in the pole vault. Ebetino will race the 3000 final at 2:45 pm and the DMR final is slated for 4:20 p.m. All times Central.
