Lady Cougs Drop on the Road to MVNU (Ohio)
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio – The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's & women's Tennis teams traveled to Mount Vernon, Ohio for some Coug on Coug action against the Mount Vernon Nazarene University Cougars.
The Women's team put up a very valiant fight during their doubles tenure where Lauren Korte & Ellen Reidy finished with a 7-6 final in 3 sets against MVNU's Cochran & Allison. Alyssa Ciocca & Tori Rodenbeck also competed in a thriller against MVNU's Harville & Vollrath where they came out victorious, 7-5. Due to short numbers, USF lost the third doubles match by default to Winey & Bresson of MVNU.
The Women shined in their singles where Ellen Reidy defeated MVNU's Cochran, 6-3 & 6-1. Lauren Korte also won her singles match 6-2, 1-6, & 10-5 forcing 3 sets against MVNU's Allison. Tori Rodenbeck also defeated her opponent 6-3, 1-6, & 10-5. Alyssa Cicocca & Emma Dellinger lost their matches in two sets against MVNU for singles, but will look to reset for their next matches.
The Lady Cougars ultimately fell 4-3 to the MVNU Cougars of Ohio. The Lady Cougars will be back in action this Thursday, September 7 on home soil. The Cougars will play at Swinney Courts here in Fort Wayne, Indiana where they'll host the Huntington University Foresters for another Conference match-up.
