FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against visiting Indiana University Northwest during Senior Night at Bishop John M. D'Arcy Stadium on Saturday, September 13.
Prior to the start of Saturday night's contest, the Cougars honored its three seniors, Mataya James, Kiersten Parker and Haley Roberson in a short, on-field ceremony.
Once the match got started, Indiana Northwest quickly got on the scoreboard when Xiomara Santana scored an unassisted goal in the fourth minute. Saint Francis took six shots in the first half, but the Cougars were unable to equalize, and the Red Hawks went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
In the second half, SF's defense limited the Red Hawks to just four shots as the Cougars fought to tie the game. With less than 30 seconds remaining in the match, sophomore Madison Meeks landed a shot in the back of the net to level the score at 1-1. The Coguars' goal marked Meeks' second goal of the season and was assisted by Reagan Metel.
The Cougars held a 16-10 advantage over the Red Hawks in shots and led in corner kicks 4-1. Meeks took four shots during the match, followed by Evelyn Harkenrider and Grace Hein with three shots each. Rachel Bova played all 90 minutes in goal for Saint Francis, recording one save.
