Cougars Dominate Golden Eagles 3-0

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's soccer team earned a dominating 3-0 win over the visiting Golden Eagles of Cornerstone University on Saturday, August 30, at Bishop John M. D'Arcy Stadium. 

Just under 15 minutes into the first half, Madison Meeks set up Faith Lewis, who shot the ball into the lower left corner, giving the Cougars a 1-0 lead. The Saint Francis defensive line limited Cornerstone to just one shot in the first half, allowing SF to head into halftime with the advantage.

In the second half, the Cougars' offense continued to create opportunities, taking a total of 12 shots. At the 73:46 mark, junior forward Hailey Stanforth scored her first goal of the season, unassisted. Fifteen minutes later, Reagan Metel connected withZoey Flora, who also netted her first goal of the season, extending Saint Francis's lead to 3-0.

The Cougars outshot the Golden Eagles 18-4, with 10 of those shots being on target for SF. Saint Francis also held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks. MetelStanforth and Lewis each had two shots on goal in the match. Rachel Bova played all 90 minutes in goal for the Cougars, improving her record to 2-1. 

Up next, Saint Francis women's soccer (3-1) will travel to Michigan to face Madonna University on Wednesday, September 3 at 5:00 p.m.
