Cougars and Pilots Battle it Out to a 2-2 Tie
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's soccer tied 2-2 with the visiting Bethel University Pilots on Saturday, October 5.
After a strong defensive effort from both teams in the opening 30 minutes of Saturday's game, the Pilots scored in the 31st minute for the 1-0 lead. Just six minutes later, Courtney Tobin lined up for a penalty shot where she slipped the ball past the Bethel goalkeeper to tie the score 1-1 for her third goal of the season. The Cougars and Pilots went into halftime knotted at 1-1.
USF pulled ahead 2-1 in the 52nd minute thanks to a goal by freshman Madison Meeks, assisted by Haley Roberson. The Cougars' defense held off the Pilots until the 86th minute when Bethel's strong offensive attack resulted in another goal for Bethel to tie the score 2-2. As time ran out in Saturday's game, neither team would score again, resulting in the 2-2 tie.
As a team, Saint Francis took 11 shots on Saturday, six of which landed on goal. Skylar Olson, Carlee Biddle, Kiersten Parker, Roberson, and Meeks each had shots land on goal, while freshman goalkeeper Rachel Bova collected seven saves on Saturday.
Up next, USF women's soccer (8-2-3, 1-2-1) will travel to Grace College on Saturday, October 12 for a 5:00 p.m. kickoff.
