Cougars go 2-0 at the CCAC | Crossroads League Classic

JOLIET, Ill. -- The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's basketball team traveled for two non-conference games this past weekend against the University of St. Francis (Ill.) Fighting Saints and the Saint Xavier University Cougars. USF came out victorious in both games, extending their season overall to 5-1. In Game one against the Saints, USF prevailed 69-57 and in game two defeated the Cougars 91-72. 

Key performers in game one came from Isabella Gizzi who led overall scoring for the Cougars with 19-points & 6 rebounds, while Taylor Fordyce contributed with 16-points & 10 rebounds, tallying her first double-double of the season. Madden, Mantyla, and Parrett all combined for 25 points and 10 rebounds as well. The Cougars trailed in the first quarter, but had explosive 2nd & 3rd quarters which helped them to propel over the Saints in the fourth for the dub. 

In game two of the USF (Ill.) Classic weekend, Chloe McKnight was the player of the game against the SXU Cougars, recording 23 points, 2 steals, 1 assist, & 5 rebounds to aid in the game two victory. Emily Parrett also had a season high 18-points, 5 assists, and 6 rebounds in the win. Reganne Pate & Taylor Fordyce also chipped in 13-points a piece and combined for 4 assists & 10 rebounds. Culberson, Craig, Valiente, Schenkel, Fream, Shelton, & Madden also all contributed off the bench for 23 points, 18 rebounds, & 4 assists.

USF is now 5-1 overall on the season and will return to action this week on the road against the Indiana East Redwolves on Wednesday, November 15th. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm at Lingle Court in Richmond, Indiana. IU-East is currently 2-3 overall with their three losses all coming from Crossroads League teams (Grace, Goshen & Huntignton).
