Cougars Sweep the Comets in Weekend Win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) men's tennis team delivered an outstanding performance on Saturday, September 23rd, as they swept Olivet College in a commanding victory. With a final score of 7-0, the Cougars displayed their strength and skill in both doubles and singles matches.

Doubles

In the doubles competition, USF showcased their prowess by securing all three matches:

  • #1 Doubles: Quentin Spear and Eric Stavnheim (USF) faced a challenging match against Trevor Lewis and Lucas Anderson of Olivet. They emerged victorious with a score of 7-6(2).

  • #2 Doubles: Alfredo Huamani and Enzo Bozonnett (USF) exhibited exceptional teamwork as they defeated Alex Jonas and Ryan Gauyer (OC) with a score of 6-2.

  • #3 Doubles: Martin Maurant and Devon McCaffery (USF) dominated their opponents, Josh Moore and Austin Whitney (OC), with a resounding score of 6-0.

Singles

The singles matches continued the trend of USF dominance, with the Cougars winning all six contests:

  • #1 Singles: Alfredo Huamani (USF) set the tone by defeating Trevor Lewis (OC) with a score of 6-2, 6-0.

  • #2 Singles: Devon McCaffery (USF) displayed his skills and resilience in a match against Lucas Anderson (OC), securing the win with a score of 7-5, 6-1.

  • #3 Singles: Martin Maurant (USF) continued the momentum with a commanding victory over Alex Jonas (OC) with a score of 6-2, 6-1.

  • #4 Singles: Enzo Bozonnett (USF) faced Josh Moore (OC) and secured another win for the Cougars with a score of 6-3, 6-2.

  • #5 Singles: JJ. Jacobs (USF) showed his dominance by defeating Austin Whitney (OC) with a score of 6-1, 6-3.

  • #6 Singles: Andres Pena (USF) closed out the match in style, winning his singles match against Ryan Gauyer (OC) with a score of 6-3, 6-3.

The University of Saint Francis men's tennis team celebrated a resounding 7-0 victory over Olivet College, highlighting their exceptional teamwork and individual skills. This impressive sweep serves as a strong statement of their capabilities as they continue their season. The Cougars are now 2-6 overall and will close out Crossroads League play, tomorrow afternoon against Marian. USF will play host to the Knights at Swinney Courts for a 1pm first serve.
