Cougars Fall Short at No. 1 Grace
WINONA LAKE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis men's basketball team battled toe-to-toe with No. 1 Grace (21-0, 11-0 CL) on Wednesday, January 28, but came up short in an 85-74 road loss.
The Cougars and Lancers traded baskets, ending the first half tied at 39-39. Saint Francis shot well in the first half and competed on both ends, but Grace used a strong second-half push to create separation and pull away late. Saint Francis finished the night with 41 rebounds and moved the ball well with 13 assists, but Grace capitalized on points off turnovers and fast-break opportunities in the second half to secure the win.
As a team, the Cougars shot 40.3% (27-67) from the floor. Malachi King led the Cougars with a game-high 24 points, adding 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Jevon Lewis followed with 17 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Eugene Young Jr. added 12 points and 6 rebounds. Karson Rogers finished with 8 points and 12 rebounds.
Up next, Saint Francis (8-12, 3-8 CL) returns home on Saturday to host No. 5 Indiana Wesleyan University. In their first matchup of the season, the Cougars fell to the Wildcats by a final score of 105-73.
