Cougars Finish 3-0 at Flag Frenzy
CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) women's flag football team improved to 8-4 on the season after going 3-0 at the Flag Frenzy hosted by Campbellsville University on March 27-28.
SAINT FRANCIS 32, (RV) CAMPBELLSIVLLE 26
- The Cougars took an early lead, holding a 7-6 advantage after the first period.
- Saint Francis added another touchdown in the second period, but Campbellsville responded with seven points to tie the game at halftime.
- Neither team found the end zone in the third period, sending the game into the fourth tied at 13-13.
- Saint Francis pulled away in the final period, outscoring the Tigers 19-13 to secure the 32-26 victory.
- The Cougars finished with 372 total yards of offense. Jianna Reyes completed 31 of 38 passes for 351 yards and four touchdowns, while also rushing for 21 yards and a score.
- Harmany Walker hauled in 14 receptions for 169 yards and a touchdown. Makenzie Fuess, Ava Cousins and Nina Kamma-Hill also recorded receiving touchdowns.
- Defensively, Saint Francis totaled 26 flag pulls, one sack and three pass breakups. Cousins led the team with seven flag pulls, while Peyton Pries added five. Nami Singer recorded a sack for a five-yard loss, and Kamma-Hill had two pass breakups.
SAINT FRANCIS 27, #10 LIFE 18
- Life jumped out to an early lead, taking a 12-6 advantage after the first period.
- The Cougars responded with a touchdown in the second period to pull ahead by one at halftime.
- Saint Francis added another score in the third period to extend its lead to seven.
- The Cougars held Life to just six second-half points while scoring 14 of their own to secure the 27-18 victory.
- Saint Francis finished with 209 total yards of offense. Reyes completed 22 of 31 passes for four touchdowns while rushing for 55 yards on 11 carries.
- Walker led all receivers with 84 yards on seven catches and a touchdown. Fuess added 40 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Madison Myers-Rebidas hauled in two touchdown receptions.
- Defensively, the Cougars recorded 15 flag pulls. Cousins led the team with six, followed by Pries with four. Kamma-Hill added an interception, returning it 25 yards.
SAINT FRANCIS 21, CUMBERLAND 14
- After a scoreless first period, the Cougars got on the scoreboard in the second while holding Cumberland scoreless to take a 7-0 lead into halftime.
- Both teams scored in the third period, making it a 14-7 game heading into the final period.
- Cumberland added seven points in the fourth to tie the game and force overtime.
- Saint Francis scored in overtime while keeping Cumberland out of the end zone to secure the 21-14 victory.
- The Cougars finished with 307 total yards of offense. Reyes completed 28 of 43 passes for 222 yards and four touchdowns while adding 85 rushing yards on 10 carries. Walker recorded seven receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown. Fuess and Cousins also added receiving touchdowns.
- Defensively, Saint Francis totaled 30 flag pulls and nine pass breakups. Four Cougars recorded five flag pulls each, including Haylee Weatherspoon, Saniyah Freeman, Kamma-Hill and Cousins. Cousins also added an interception.
Up next, the Cougars (8-4) will conclude the regular season with two games at the Siena Heights Inviational on Saturday, April 18.
