#24 Cougars Drop Midwest League Opener to #11 Knights

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) football team fell on the road Saturday afternoon, dropping a tough road matchup against No. 11 Marian University 49-0.

Marian's offense started strong and maintained its momentum throughout the game, scoring touchdowns in every quarter while keeping the Cougars scoreless. Although the Cougars forced two fumbles, they were unable to convert these opportunities into points. Running back Keagan La Belle was a standout for the Knights, recording four rushing touchdowns and gaining 60 yards on 21 carries. Quarterback Tristan Polk contributed with 235 passing yards and also added a rushing touchdown.

Overall, Marian finished with a total of 377 yards, compared to Saint Francis's 162 yards, and dominated the time of possession, holding the ball for 36 minutes and 3 seconds to Saint Francis's 23 minutes and 57 seconds.

For Saint Francis, quarterback Joshua Kulka threw for 151 yards on 13 completions, connecting with Colin McPeek (57 yards) and Adam Smith (53 yards) for the Cougars' biggest plays through the air. Azariah Wallace led the rushing effort with 37 yards on 18 carries. 

Defensively, Gregory Holmes III paced the Cougars with seven solo tackles and a forced fumble, while Joshua Nziza recorded five tackles and a sack.

Up next, Saint Francis (5-2) will travel to Saint Xavier University on Saturday, October 22, as the Cougars continue a series of road games before returning home to face Olivet Nazarene University on November 1.
