FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The University of Saint Francis is pleased to announce that five members of the Bishop Luers High School track and field team have committed to continue their education and track and field at USF starting in the fall of the 2009-10 school year.

   BLHS head track and field coach Jason Draper presented the five during a signing session on Wednesday morning at Bishop Luers.

 > Austin Carteaux , sprinter, 400m, 200m, relays, etc..., Athlete of the meet at Oak Hill Relays 2009 

Parents: Thomas and Theresa Carteaux . . . Austin plans to major in Business

 > Nichole Wellman , sprinter, mid distance, 400m, 800m, regional qualifier 4 x 800 relay 

Parents: Larry and Linda Wellman . . . Nichole plans on majoring in education

> Amy Swygart , pole vaulter, sprinter 

Parents: Stephen and Michell Swygart . . . Amy plans on majoring in nursing

> Jennifer Byrd , thrower, 2009 sectional champion in discus 

Parents: Greg and Kathy Byrd . . . Jennifer plans on majoring in nursing

 > Heather Thelen, sprinter, 400m, 200m, relays, etc..., state qualifier 2006 4 x 400m relay

Parents: Scott and Beth Thelen . . . is undecided on her major

    "I'm really looking forward to what these five athletes can achieve at the next level," Draper said. Draper is an assistant track and field coach under head coach Sarah Thrall at USF.
