ORLANDO, Fla. -- Mark A. Pope, Director of Athletics for the
University of Saint Francis, has been unanimously elected Vice-Chair of the Championship Competition Committee of the NAIA's National Administrative Council. The election took place during the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics ("NACDA") meetings in Orlando, FL from June 18-21.
Comprised of 35 Athletic Directors and Conference Commissioners from throughout the country, the National Administrative Council ("NAC") is the governing operational organization for the NAIA. All legislation must be approved by the NAC before it can be considered by the NAIA membership. The Championship Competition Committee is one of four committees within the NAC, and it is responsible for initiating policy for conference, independent and national competition for all NAIA sports.
Pope will serve as Vice Chair of the Championship Competition Committee until April 2010, when he will automatically become Chair. He will also become a member of the NAC's Executive Committee.
